Role Summary

Director, Project Management at Gilead. Leads and manages a functional and project management team within Product Launch & Change Planning (PLCP) in Global Clinical Supply Chain, overseeing launches, continuous improvement initiatives, and related projects. Reports to the Sr. Director of Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing project managers to successfully launch new products into major markets.
  • Function as project manager for complex programs and key functional initiatives.
  • Act as an expert project manager for PLCP, collaborating with key stakeholders across Global Supply Chain to develop strategies and pursue continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Change Management to achieve sustainable continuous improvement outcomes.
  • Coach and mentor PLCP PMs to utilize project management best practices.
  • Identify, document, and share best practices to improve project management skillset.
  • Ensure project work complies with established practices, policies and processes.
  • Lead PMs to solve complex operational problems or enhance processes.
  • Oversee and manage new product launch risks and issues.
  • Support GSC resource management for project assignment and prioritization.
  • Track and maintain PLCP dashboards, trackers, and KPIs.
  • Inform key stakeholders of PLCP activities through regular reporting and communications.

Qualifications

  • Education: Twelve years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree required or ten years with a master’s degree; graduate degree preferred. Six Sigma experience and certification desired.
  • Experience: 12+ years of relevant working experience; 7+ years of cross-functional project management across development phases; experience in biotech/pharmaceutical/medical device industry; operational acumen in a public company setting; experience managing multiple projects including external partnerships.
  • Skills: Proficiency with Smartsheet; strong communications, leadership, influencing, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities; ability to build and maintain relationships with executive leaders.
  • Travel: Up to 10% may be required.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma principles to analyze processes and data for improvements.
  • Superior communication and listening skills; ability to foster an accountable, collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to define vision and deliver results; strong leadership to influence stakeholders and lead PLCP team.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with executive leaders across the business.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required (12+ years of relevant experience); Master’s degree preferred (10+ years of relevant experience).

Additional Requirements

  • Operational familiarity with product launches and change management within Global Clinical Supply Chain.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
