Director, Project Controls (Malvern, PA or New Brunswick, NJ)
Responsibilities:
- Lead development, governance, validation, and continuous improvement of capital project estimating practices across the lifecycle.
- Drive consistent estimating standards (early ideation through execution/assessment), including estimating strategies, business case support, scope/cost alignment, estimate reviews, and validation of external partner deliverables.
- Establish and manage estimating tools/templates and 21-Tab/ESR estimate structure; ensure complete, documented, defensible cost assumptions (basis, exclusions, allowances, escalation, contingency, risk).
- Lead benchmarking and independent estimate reviews/challenge sessions; evaluate estimating/AE/CM/contractor deliverables.
- Support change order review and cost validation; review bid packages and subcontract pricing; develop contingency strategies.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Business or related (required).
- 15+ years estimating/project controls/construction management for major capital programs.
- Experience with complex $100MM+ capital projects in regulated environments; strong knowledge of estimating, benchmarking, cost breakdown structures, escalation/contingency, and change-impact evaluation.
Preferred:
- J&J FPX/IDEA familiarity; CEP/CCP/CPE/PMP/RICS (or equivalent); web-based PM/estimating tools (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Planswift); FDA-regulated experience.
