DIRECTOR, PRICING & CONTRACTING
Summary
Ionis Pharmaceuticals is in the process of building and scaling its US commercial enterprise organization. The US Market Access Leadership team is expanding its capabilities to support current and future product launches in the US Pricing & Contracting department. The Pricing & Contracting Director is a crucial role that support the U.S. Executive Director Pricing and Contracting in developing and executing strategic pricing and contracting strategies through all stages of IONISโ product lifecycles to optimize patient access, brand value and overall competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will:
- Support the U.S. Executive Director Pricing & Contracting for IONISโ US market access enterprise. This Director role will be responsible for developing the gross and net pricing strategy, vision, and direction for product life cycle management.
- Develop, recommend and implement pricing and contracting strategies for each brand that align with the company's overall commercial objectives
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and implementation of pricing and contracting processes and procedures
- Monitor market trends and competitor pricing strategies to inform decision making and ensure competitiveness in the market
- Provide pricing support to assess and analyze prioritized S. policy and legislation to support the U.S. Government Affairs and Policy team.
- Manage and support 3rd party partnerships: Contract Analytics & Reporting, Install Pricing Analytics capability, Contract Administration.
- Provide support to Finance to conduct quarterly close support for forecasting discounts and segmentation utilization.
- Government Pricing and State Transparency Reporting processes, pricing calculation validations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to pricing and contracting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and finance, to develop pricing and contracting strategies that support the fundamental to ensure successful product commercialization and optimal profitability
- Support National Account Team to help represent the company in meetings and negotiations as needed with external stakeholders to advocate for the company's pricing and contracting interests
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to pricing and contracting
Requirements
- Bachelorโs Degree in an analytical area of study (finance, accounting); CPA/MBA preferred
- At least 15 years of deep expertise in building and owning pricing & contracting strategy capabilities in pharma/ biotech; or relevant experience
- Enterprise level market expertise in analytical methodology and rigor to drive best in class execution of pricing and contracting analytics, including GTN forecasting
- Experience in developing contract proposals (financial models, GTN implications, and ROI analysis for evaluation) and effective negotiation strategy
- Strong knowledge of systems and reporting mechanisms that supports pharmaceutical contract administration across customers (payer, provider, government, SPs, etc)
- Expert level knowledge of the pharmacy and medical benefits, Medicare (FFS and Managed), Medicaid, and Federal purchasing programs
- Subject matter expertise on IRA and its financial risks and opportunities to organization
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to variety of audiences
- Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.

The pay scale for this position is $208,000 to $240,000
