Role Summary
Director, Pipeline Commercialization leads program management for AbbVie’s pipeline assets, driving cross-functional execution, asset strategy development, and governance interactions to advance asset development across multiple indications.
Responsibilities
- Line management of Program Management staff.
- Provide program management support for assigned Asset Team sub-teams/working teams.
- Support development of sub-team plans and drive aligned execution for functional components.
- Ensure accurate and timely tracking and reporting of sub-team deliverables and identification, communication, and management of sub-team risks.
- Actively participate in the advancement of Program Management and asset development at AbbVie.
- Manage, develop, coach and mentor staff; foster an inclusive environment where talent is developed and diversity valued.
- Provide program management support for Asset Teams and sub-teams; partner in developing core strategies and delivering goals.
- Coordinate sub-team activities and deliverables; structure sub-team meetings to drive effective decision-making.
- Partner with Asset Team PM and sub-team to prepare key messages and deliverables; navigate governance processes effectively, including higher-complexity forums.
- Develop sub-team plans and deliverables to inform asset strategy and translate strategy into execution; maintain awareness of upcoming deliverables.
- Identify and escalate execution challenges; manage cross-functional issues with asset PMs as needed.
- Collaborate with project planners to ensure accurate tracking of timelines and near-term needs.
- Identify, communicate, and manage sub-team risks; escalate as appropriate for asset-level risks.
- Share learnings and best practices across teams; drive process improvement within the PM organization.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelors with 16 years, Masters with 14 years, or PhD with 8 years of CMC functional experience.
- Required: Prior experience in a relevant laboratory-based CMC function (chemistry, analytical, formulation, etc.) to assist CMC project teams in planning, preparation, review, and approval of submission documents.
- Required: 6+ years in a cross-functional project/program management role; strong program management skills and knowledge of pharmaceutical PM practices and tools.
- Required: Change management experience in implementing cross-functional/organizational initiatives.
- Required: Well-developed communication skills (written and oral).
- Required: Well-developed strategic thinking and leadership skills.
- Preferred: Prior people management experience.
- Preferred: Experience with both global and regional teams in the pharmaceutical industry.
Education
- Educational qualifications aligning with the above: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD with relevant CMC experience as specified.
