As we draw on our differences, what we’ve experienced, and how we work, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees Role Summary The Director, Payer Access Cell Therapy will be an integral member of the commercial organization, focused on operationalizing the overall Market Access strategy, and ensuring patients have timely access to Autolus therapies. The primary objective of the Director, Payer Access Cell Therapy is to secure robust coverage and reimbursement for all Autolus products through regional, national, and government payers. In collaboration with center engagement and account management, this role will be integral to onboarding treatment centers and supporting broad timely patient access. The Director, Payer Access Cell Therapy will be a thought leader on all access related items including payer policy, pricing communication, and treatment center reimbursement. Please note: This role will be covering the Northeast Region. Key Responsibilities Identify, develop, and manage strategic relationships with National / Regional Commercial and Government payers within assigned geography. Implement approved pre-launch payer education plan to ensure awareness of Autolus pipeline and prepare the payer market for new cell therapy entrants. Present / provide approved product education and health economic information to key customers and communicate the value proposition of Autolus products. Assess payer and policy landscape to understand and plan for potential coverage of Autolus products for Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid patients, including policy legislation, payer class management, and advocacy. Obtain coverage for Autolus products within assigned accounts, while also identifying and mitigating potential challenges that may hinder access. Partner with Medical Affairs and Global Market Access team to address clinical and outcomes concerns from payers. Working knowledge of total cost of care and all aspects of reimbursement (coding, coverage, and payment) for inpatient and outpatient settings across payer segments. Understand payer requirements and hospital reimbursement for cell therapies administered in the inpatient setting, including CMS requirements and implications for new novel therapies. Inform and educate authorized treatment centers on coverage, billing, coding, and reimbursement of Autolus cell therapies. Work with Autolus Patient Support to ensure understanding of payer coverage policies and requirements and assist with any coverage questions. Responsible and accountable for the successful implementation within geography of the strategic and tactical market access plan. Post launch, partner with field account management team to provide education on respective payers and to address any questions or concerns that arise. Demonstrated Skills and Competencies Experience Demonstrated successful experience with National and Regional payers in Commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare. Sustained track record of access and reimbursement achievement in cell therapy, gene therapy, or hematology / oncology. Excellent strategic and business acumen skills, with demonstrated ability to successfully partner with payers. Knowledge of medical benefit along with inpatient and outpatient economics preferred. Extensive experience with private and public payers, across all settings of care, to include the economic complexities for reimbursement in each setting. Extensive understanding of hematology / oncology clinical landscape, and the business of cell therapy. Strong ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally to ensure goals are achieved. Possess a willingness and ability to work hands-on and with a sense of urgency, in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Experience in onboarding cell therapies with treatment centers highly preferred. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher and 10+ years hematology / oncology experience in payer relations and market access. Skills/Specialist Knowledge Deep knowledge of CART/Cell Therapy access, reimbursement, and policy dynamics. In-depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge in hematologic malignancies. Strong ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Routinely synthesizes customer information into actionable insights & recommendations. Proven leadership experience and capabilities. Recognized role model of Autolus core values and ways of working that inspire high performance culture and engagement. Ability to problem solve, demonstrate flexibility, and think strategically. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to and engage with a wide range of audiences. Proficient in PowerPoint, excel and word.
