Role Summary
Director, Patient Services will design, build, and lead the patient support program for uniQure’s commercial pipeline, reporting to the Vice President of Patient Services and Distribution. The role leads a team of case managers, ensuring compliant, patient-centered services across education, financial support, care coordination, and ongoing engagement, with launch experience in rare disease and gene therapy.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and manage the entire patient support program for uniQure’s pipeline of products.
- Develop a patient-centered model including case management, patient education, financial support, care coordination, and ongoing engagement.
- Hire, train and directly manage a team of case managers that will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the patient support services program.
- Create all necessary PSP support materials in collaboration with Marketing and Account Management team members.
- Develop and monitor strategic KPIs to ensure continuous improvement of service over the product’s lifecycle.
- Champion a culture of compliance by working closely with uniQure’s Legal and Compliance team members to ensure all service offerings and PSP activities meet applicable laws and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other members of uniQure’s Market Access team as well as other cross-functional team members (Legal, Finance, Medical, IT).
- Partner with closely with IT to align on architecture, cyber security, and compliance on selection and management of the patient services (CRM) platform.
- Oversee budgeting and financial planning for all patient services functions.
- Lead relationships with all PSP strategic business partners.
- Proactively monitor market trends, policy changes, and other rare disease and gene therapy patient support programs to inform potential changes to our PSP strategy.
- Attend all pertinent industry conferences and symposiums.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree. Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MPH, MHA).
- Required: 10+ years in pharmaceutical/biotechnology. Preferred: experience in rare disease / gene therapy.
- Required: 5+ years of relevant patient support experience. Preferred: Previous case manager / field reimbursement experience.
- Launch experience within patient services area, including patient services launch planning and execution and lifecycle management.
- Direct supervisory experience with a proven track record of leading teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort level with senior management presentations.
- Willingness to travel as needed (~25%).
