The Director, Patient Educator Lead (field-based) leads and develops a team of Patient Educators while directly supporting patients and caregivers living with Parkinson’s disease psychosis (PDP) as a “player-coach.” Accountable for team performance against defined KPIs and for education that drives measurable impact on patient readiness to engage healthcare providers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1, in-person education to patients, caregivers, and families regarding PDP, Nuplazid, and ACADIA support resources using approved materials.
- Support patients and caregivers with empathy and professionalism; partner with advocacy/community/professional organizations.
- Coordinate handoffs to Patient Access Managers (PAMs); model best practices for engagement and education.
- Lead/coaching/develop the Patient Educator team (onboarding, field coaching, mentorship, capability development), including field observations and performance reviews.
- Own KPI performance; use data/field insights to identify gaps and implement corrective coaching.
- Lead planning/execution of patient and caregiver programs, speaker and community events; partner cross-functionally (Marketing, Sales, Advocacy, Patient Support Services).
- Capture and synthesize feedback to inform resources and strategies; ensure compliance with legal/regulatory/company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (healthcare/life sciences preferred).
- 10+ years relevant experience in pharma/biotech focused on patient education/support/advocacy.
- Prior experience leading/mentoring a field-based team strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership/coaching skills; exceptional communication/presentation; ability to translate complex science into patient-friendly language.
- Understanding of compliance/regulatory frameworks.
- Reside near a major airport; eligibility to drive company vehicle; travel up to 75% (including occasional after-hours).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
