Director of Oral Formulation Sciences

Primary Responsibilities:
- Drive development of new, innovative approaches for product development, experimental designs, execution, and data analysis to impact pipeline development and set strategic direction.
- Manage, develop, and grow a team of scientists and engineers for development and commercialization of the oral product pipeline.
- Collaborate across functional areas; apply advanced knowledge/experience in oral drug product development to bring knowledge, creativity, and discipline to drive results.
- Maintain awareness of new and current technologies and share knowledge.
- Drive internal capability development by evaluating and deploying new drug product technologies.
- Establish and manage expense and capital expenditure budgets and forecasts.
- Recruit and develop staff through objective setting, rewards/recognition, stretch leadership/technical assignments, and learning opportunities.
- Sponsor and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Education Minimum Requirement:
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field + 8+ years relevant experience; or B.S./M.S. + 12+ years relevant experience.

Required Experience and Skills:
- Knowledge of oral drug product formulation and process development.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Effective verbal/written communication; strong organizational skills for multiple priorities.
- Track record of independent problem-solving.
- Experience leading complex teams/matrix management.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Enterprise-level development project leadership.
- Mentoring capabilities.
- Ability to apply physical/organic chemistry, physical pharmacy, and materials science to solve pharmaceutical development problems.
- Subject matter expert in drug delivery and/or manufacturing technology.
- Ability to identify/characterize/solve development challenges.
- Understanding of connectivity between clinical development, CMC, and commercial marketing.
