Role: The Director of Operational Excellence (OE) leads network-wide OE strategies for AstraZeneca's autologous Cell Therapy, focusing on streamlining vein-to-vein value streams, eliminating waste, and building scalable capabilities. Responsibilities include leading end-to-end value stream mapping, deploying strategy via Hoshin, managing improvement portfolios with clear milestones and risks, and standardizing productivity dashboards. The role oversees programs in cycle time, labor models, MES/EBR enablement, yield, and automation, applying Lean methodologies such as A3, VSM, and SMED. It involves developing processes for training, batch execution, deviations, and logistics, as well as facilitating Kaizen events and scaling best practices across cell therapy development and operations. Collaboration with Supply Chain ensures cold chain integrity and flow, maintaining patient safety, cGMP compliance, data integrity, and GAMP standards. The role also involves aligning senior leadership, communicating outcomes, and coaching site leaders. Qualifications: Bachelor's in engineering or life sciences; 10+ years GMP manufacturing experience; 5+ years leading programs; Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent; expertise in value stream management, lean principles, cGMP, data integrity, GAMP, and digital systems such as MES/EBR/LIMS. Preferred: advanced degree. High-value specifics include focus on cell therapy (ATMPs), GxP compliance, process improvement, digital enablement, and cross-functional leadership.
