Role: Lead scientific research and team management in obesity and metabolic diseases within the Cardiometabolic Disease (CMD) Department, focusing on target discovery, preclinical candidate nomination, and advancing therapeutic programs. Responsibilities: guide discovery efforts from human biology insights to preclinical validation, collaborate across drug development functions, evaluate external innovation, and represent the scientific team through publications and strategic forums. Requirements: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in endocrinology, metabolism, pharmacology, or related fields; minimum of 8 years' experience in obesity, diabetes, or related areas; proven leadership in research programs, deep expertise in metabolic disease biology, and experience with in vitro/in vivo models and therapeutic modalities. Preferred skills include pharmacology and translational research. HighValue: focus on obesity and metabolic disorders, early to preclinical development stages, with emphasis on human genetics, biomarkers, and innovative technologies. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, external partners, and thought leadership are integral. Location: South San Francisco, CA, with approximately 10% travel.
