Job Description:
The Nonclinical Sciences Department is seeking a highly motivated veterinary anatomic pathologist to provide expert pathology and scientific support for nonclinical studies and safety strategies supporting drug development from discovery through marketed products. Collaborate with departmental colleagues and cross-functional teams across nonclinical drug development, covering research and regulatory pathology and supporting various molecular modalities and therapeutic areas. Provide interpretation, integration, and communication of complex anatomic and clinical pathology findings for novel therapeutics. Opportunities may include participating in due diligence teams, project leadership, driving mechanistic studies, and contributing to Gilead-wide working groups/cross-functional initiatives.
Location: Foster City, CA; remote work may be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Qualifications:
- 3–7 years of relevant experience
- DVM plus PhD (post-doctoral or equivalent experience in comparative pathology, toxicology, or related field is a plus)
- Anatomic pathology residency training and specialty board certification
- Previous industry experience beneficial (not required)
- Project pathologist experience in the biopharmaceutical industry preferred
- Strong decision-making, complex problem-solving, and project management skills
- Critical data analysis and interpretation
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (technical writing and presenting)
- Demonstrated scientific productivity (publications, conference presentations)
- Deep experience in immunology, virology, or oncology highly desirable
- Experience mentoring junior scientists
- Ability to represent nonclinical pathology in external forums and regulatory interactions
- Working knowledge of digital pathology, image analysis, and AI desirable

Benefits/Compensation:
- Bay Area salary range: $226,185.00–$292,710.00; Other US locations: $205,615.00–$266,090.00
