Director, Machine Learning, Alzheimer's Disease Initiative

Role: Scientific leader and Director of Machine Learning within Arc Institute’s Alzheimer's Disease Initiative, focused on applying advanced ML to neurodegeneration research. Responsibilities: build and lead a team of machine learning scientists; develop interpretable models (e.g., variational inference, causal modeling, transformer architectures) to elucidate disease mechanisms; collaborate with experimental biologists on cellular and in vivo models using scRNA-seq and perturbation datasets; create predictive models to identify therapeutic interventions; publish research and foster external collaborations. Requirements: PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, or related field; 7+ years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in management; proven expertise in ML applications to biological data, especially single-cell profiling; strong publication record; hands-on technical skills in frameworks like PyTorch; excellent communication skills. Preferred: experience with neurodegeneration, Alzheimer’s datasets, pathways, and eQTL analyses.
