Director, Lab Systems Engineering

Role: Lead the enterprise laboratory technology platforms, including OT and IT systems, ensuring compliance, security, operational stability, and innovation across Vertex's labs and manufacturing. Objectives: optimize lab operations through scalable, secure, and compliant solutions; drive digital transformation with emerging technologies like IoT, automation, and passive data capture. Responsibilities: manage a $10M budget, oversee a support team, develop strategic partnerships, ensure GxP/SOX compliance, and lead programs for platform delivery and modernization. Collaborate closely with senior business, quality, and DTE leaders, and external vendors. Requirements: Bachelor's degree (advanced preferred), 10+ years in enterprise technology leadership within highly regulated environments, with proven experience in managing complex platforms, vendor ecosystems, and cross-functional teams. Skills: strong stakeholder engagement, cyber security, ITSM/ITIL expertise, program and financial management, and senior leadership communication. High-Value: experience operating in GxP and SOX environments, managing laboratory OT and IT systems, and driving innovation in biopharma manufacturing and R&D settings.
