Director, Knowledge Graph & Semantics - HYBRID ROLE

Role: Lead the development and operation of Vertex's enterprise Knowledge Graph and Semantic Layer to unify data across clinical, research, regulatory, and commercial domains, supporting AI and analytics initiatives. Responsibilities: design, build, and manage the graph and semantic platform; define strategy and select technology stack; partner with ontology teams to ensure data fidelity; develop interfaces for AI agents and retrieval systems; oversee onboarding of systems; maintain production SLAs and optimize performance. Requirements: 10+ years in data engineering, AI/ML, or analytics; 3+ years focused on knowledge graphs, semantic tech, or enterprise data modeling; expertise in designing and operating complex graphs, semantic layers, and integrating with cloud platforms like Snowflake or Databricks; experience with cross-domain data integration, ontology translation, graph query languages, and AI grounding. Preferred: pharma or life sciences experience, familiarity with GxP, industry ontologies (SNOMED, MedDRA, etc.), and LLM integration with graphs. Work setup: hybrid with 3 days/week onsite in Boston; flexible remote options.
