General Description

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Inventory and Cost Accounting to oversee our global inventory valuation and cost accounting processes. This leadership role is essential for ensuring the accuracy of inventory costing and improving inventory reporting throughout the supply chain. The position is a key member of the Global Tech Ops (GTO) Finance team and reports directly to the Vice President of GTO Finance.

The successful candidate will possess substantial expertise in cost accounting methodologies, ERP systems, and collaboration across functional areas. Excellence in this role requires strong prioritization skills within a dynamic environment, outstanding communication abilities, and a proactive, solutions-driven approach.

This is a hybrid (remote/office) work location position based in our Hopewell, NJ office.

Essential Functions Of The Job

  • Oversee and coordinate global inventory accounting & reporting including but not limited to reviewing the monthly inventory balance sheet positions for each entity to identify any anomalies (e.g., inventory balance with no corresponding inventory reserve).
  • Ensure accurate valuation and reconciliation of inventory across multiple sites.
  • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate inventory and cost accounting control policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Coordinate annual product standard costing process.
  • Assist manufacturing site Finance Teams with technical inventory and cost accounting matters including providing guidance as required.
  • Lead quarterly inventory review analysis process for all entities and develop a plan to ensure all entities reserve balances are reviewed.
  • Coordination with the local finance leads to obtain variance commentary to support the quarterly closing process related to the balance sheet and cash flows.
  • Identify and implement processes and best practices in accounting processes related to inventory optimization/working capital, cost accounting & reporting.
  • Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives within cost accounting.
  • Liaison and collaborate with external and internal auditors during interim quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to internal and external compliance (e.g. SOX) related to inventory and costing controls.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting required with 12+ years of accounting/financial experience with at least 8 plus years of relevant finance experience in the pharmaceutical industry supporting manufacturing finance.
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong financial control, reporting and analytical skills with demonstrated business impact in previous roles
  • Significant experience in inventory and product cost accounting within pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration, influencing decision-making across diverse teams and organizational levels.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a willingness to assume responsibility, take ownership of their work and intelligently challenge the status quo.

Salary Range

$158,200.00 - $218,200.00 annually

Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
