Position Overview
- Director of In Vitro Pharmacology for Neuroscience NGTx team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and scientific oversight for in vitro pharmacology activities.
- Lead human-relevant in vitro studies (iPSC-derived neurons/glia, reporter cell assays, primary cell culture).
- Build/validate disease-relevant in vitro models for target validation, mechanism-of-action, and candidate characterization.
- Direct design/screening/optimization of siRNA and genetic-medicine approaches to translate hits into leads.
- Establish assay validation standards and decision-grade data rigor; drive innovation using emerging technologies.
- Serve as in vitro biology/pharmacology expert on cross-functional teams.
- Mentor and lead cell and research scientist teams; manage resource allocation.
- Contribute to target validation/candidate selection; pursue program-accelerating innovation (models, assay platforms, partnerships).
- Partner with Computational Biology/Data Science and with In Vivo Pharmacology, Discovery Research, and Clinical Development.
- Ensure reproducibility, data quality, integrity; manage budget/vendors; track KPIs.
Qualifications
Required
- PhD in Neuroscience/Cell/Molecular Biology or related field.
- 6+ years pharmaceutical/biotechnology in vitro pharmacology and cell-based biology.
- 4+ years people management experience.
Preferred
- iPSC-derived systems, primary cultures, reporter assays; disease-relevant cellular models.
- In vitro toxicology investigation framework.
- Expertise in siRNA/oligonucleotide design and screening; genetic medicines.
- High-throughput/high-content screening, assay development, automation.
- Drug discovery/development knowledge; preclinical candidate nomination track record.
- Neurological disorders focus (chronic pain, neurodegeneration).
- Translational biomarker strategy; IND-enabling study regulatory knowledge.
- Strong publication record; communication/collaboration; matrixed fast-paced leadership.
