Role Summary
Director II, eClinical Strategy builds and stewards the next generation of e-Clinical Strategy with AI/Automation, the 5Vs of clinical data generation/acquisition, the holistic end users experience, and an integrated clinical technology and data environment as its foundation. Supports interoperability across internal functions, with clinical sites, with third-party contributors, and with patients. Facilitates convergence of technologies used for clinical trial planning and execution. Bridges technology, process, data and innovation efforts across R&D; links end-user needs to strategy and governance. Focuses strategy and execution on improvements in speed, quality and cost of trials as measurements of the value of the eClinical Strategy.
Responsibilities
- Looks both within and outside the industry for technology that addresses key needs and opens opportunities tied to the eClinical strategy. Builds partnerships where advantageous.
- Forms external collaborations with suppliers (academia, biotech and CROs), customers (regulators, payers and providers) and technology service providers.
- Accountable for eClinical investment prioritization and for obtaining funding for annual eClinical projects
- Leads and chairs strategic initiatives in alignment with the eClinical Strategy
- Facilitates eClinical governance and the refresh of the eClinical strategy biennially or on an ad hoc basis
- Coordinates current and future R&D and IT priorities in order to enhance business strategies.
- Aligns IT strategy with R&D goals and builds a more agile clinical environment by harnessing emerging enabling technologies.
- Aligns senior business and IT management with regard to the strategy.
- Guarantees investments and operational models ensure key tenets of the strategy are met
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in engineering, physics, mathematics, business or computer science or similar. Master's preferred.
- 5+ years in role as technology strategist
- Proven skill in strategy development and in converting strategy to execution
- Ability to influence without direct authority
- Considerable experience with obtaining and maintaining key executive support
- Exemplary communication and presentation skills
- Record of creating value through innovation
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, business, computer science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
