Role Summary
Director II, Clinical Innovation, Clinical Design. Based onsite in Irvine, CA. Leads the development of core capabilities to modernize clinical design and evidence generation, defining key questions and applying methodology to deliver resolute answers through novel study design.
Responsibilities
- Define objective and develop study design scenarios/options to support novel non-interventional and interventional studies.
- Create data driven rationale packages to support decision making internally and externally (health authority facing).
- Work with clinical science and data sciences to leverage cross Clinical Innovation solutions and maximize study elements.
- Identify and cultivate cross-functional relationships to drive organizational synergies and develop solutions spanning translation to late development.
- Stay ahead of emerging biostatistical, scientific, and technological trends to support novel study design.
- Represent Clinical Innovation in forums to align on good decision making with a balance of thoroughness and agility.
Qualifications
- For a Director I: MD or PhD in Biological Sciences and 7+ years of experience in clinical and experimental design.
- For a Director II: MD or PhD in Biological Sciences and 10+ years of experience in clinical and experimental design, plus 5+ years in leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to build novel experimental designs that drive strong business impact.
- Highly collaborative and able to work in a team environment to advance AbbVie’s mission.
- Proven research background with a track record of advancing projects to completion.
- Creative problem-solver able to identify solutions for hard-to-solve challenges.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a complex matrixed organization.
