Director II, Clinical Field Excellence steers the strategic direction and elevates the performance of Clinical Site Management (CSM)’s clinical field activities globally, driving continuous innovation and improvement and ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards.

Reports to the Senior Director, Head of Clinical Field Excellence and Site Centricity. Collaborates with CSM Leadership, Medical Affairs, Business Insights/Study Feasibility/Patient Recruitment, Global/Area/Country CSM teams, and CDO stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the Clinical Field Excellence team; foster innovation and continuous improvement.
- Establish a strategic vision for the Clinical Field organization.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance global CSM team performance and impact.
- Drive standardized bi-directional field clinical interaction planning and engagement.
- Champion innovation and continuous learning; optimize standards, processes, tools, and resources to improve end-to-end trial activities (site identification, recruitment, enrollment).
- Collaborate on field development training strategy and delivery.
- Maintain understanding of regulatory, quality, and compliance standards; ensure compliance of the field clinical operating model.
- Evolve Field Clinical Insights; design/monitor KPIs.
- Partner cross-functionally to align field activities with corporate standards and goals; lead global cross-functional teams for synergistic opportunities.
- Drive AI innovation/adoption for CSM; define/implement global field clinical system and reporting requirements.
- Attract, retain, develop, coach, and provide feedback; maintain a training curriculum.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Degree in Business or Life Science required.
- 12+ years (15+ preferred) in pharma/biotech or relevant clinical research org; 8–11 years related area; 5+ years field clinical experience; field clinical leadership strongly preferred.
- Understanding of legal/regulatory environment for Field Clinical roles.
- Tactical familiarity with clinical site management; familiarity with affiliate One R&D model collaboration preferred.
- Strategic leadership; matrix and cross-functional leadership experience.
- Strong collaboration, people management, coaching/mentoring, and communication skills.
- Experience leveraging business analytics to inform decisions.
