Role Summary
Director I, Lipid Nanoparticles. Lead non-viral delivery efforts for mRNA/LNP development; manage a team of ~10 scientists and drive a pipeline of development candidates in collaboration with multiple functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead an internal team of experienced scientists and oversee the design, optimization and production of mRNA and targeted LNP to support in vitro and in vivo studies.
- Define and implement strategies to develop novel LNP formulations and advance targeted LNP delivery by leveraging internal expertise in lipid chemistry, antibody engineering and bioconjugation for in situ mRNA delivery.
- Establish and drive productive collaborations with internal multi-disciplinary project teams and external partners to achieve key milestones.
- Stay up to date on latest development in LNP and other non-viral delivery technologies.
- Dive deeply into science and present scientific findings internally and externally.
- Mentor and coach staff to ensure the team achieve strategic priorities.
Qualifications
- PhD in biochemistry, chemical engineering, material science or related field.
- Greater than 10 years postdoc/industry experience focusing on lipid nanoparticle systems for mRNA delivery.
- Strong experience in lipid chemistry, formulation development and analytical techniques.
- Deep understanding of conjugation chemistry.
- Experience in mRNA/LNP scale up production and process development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a high performing team working in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams to meet project deliverables and timelines.
- Strong communication and decision making skills.
- Previous experience in targeted LNP for extra hepatic delivery is highly preferred.
Prior experience in leading or co-leading a portfolio project to the stage of candidate selection is highly preferred.
