Role Summary

The Director I/II, Psychiatry PCS is responsible for commercial development of multiple psychiatry agents and indications in various stages of preclinical and clinical development, with focus on interventional psychiatric agents. Primary responsibilities include leading: (1) identification of unmet patient need in multiple psychiatric conditions, (2) partnering with R&D stakeholders to address that unmet need through the AbbVie psychiatry pipeline, (3) forecasting and valuing multiple commercialization pathways, and (4) positioning/co-positioning pipeline products and creating initial brand stories and evidence plans. Reporting to the Psychiatry PCS lead, the Director I/II will also co-lead the cross-functional Brand Strategy Team (BST), collaborating with multiple teams, including R&D, Finance, Market Access, and Market Research to drive both commercial planning and forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial planning, including creation and refinement of value propositions, potential positioning, early lifecycle planning, and associated revenue/cost forecasting
  • Lead commercial evaluations of additional potential indications across multiple potential patient populations and sub-populations
  • Design and shape clinical and medical evidence generation plans in partnership with R&D
  • Participate in cross-functional governance meetings, including go to Phase 2/3 milestones
  • Partner with PCS Insights and market research teams to develop and validate value propositions through HCP and patient engagement
  • Lead discussions with key opinion leaders to garner insights in the development and commercialization of assets
  • Develop compelling presentations to convey strategies to broad sets of stakeholder audiences, including senior executives, cross-functional leadership teams, and cross-functional partners for understanding and support of development plans
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required; MBA or PhD preferred
  • At least 10 years of pharmaceutical pipeline experience marketing experience with an on-market product also preferred
  • Psychiatry-focused experience strongly preferred; an ideal candidate will have experience with treatment resistant depression (TRD) agents, especially with interventional psychiatry agents within depression
  • Detailed understanding of the pharmaceutical product development process
  • Experience in creating product or indication development plans in partnership with R&D
  • Strong analytical and strategic marketing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without authority
  • Strategic storyteller who can simplify complex concepts and communicate them cross-functionally and to senior leadership
  • A successful track record of ascending responsibility
