Role Summary

Director, HEOR Strategy Eyecare, International Launch Lead leads the strategic development and execution of high-quality health economics and outcomes research for an enterprise-critical gene therapy in retina diseases. The role directly contributes to the launch evidence required for JCA and HTA and acts as the HEOR brand/asset leader on cross-functional asset/brand teams, ensuring payer evidence requirements are reflected in the asset strategy. The director may oversee more than one asset or indication and coordinates evidence alignment across key international markets.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the design and conduct of projects and effectively communicates the findings and strategic impact to internal and external audiences.
  • Provides product leadership to HEOR strategic direction aligned with business goals in collaboration with cross-functional partners, including activities such as unmet need evidence, cost-effectiveness and economic modeling, comparative effectiveness analyses, real-world evidence, patient-reported outcomes, and collaboration with external experts to substantiate gene therapy policy changes.
  • Ensures project plans integrate with product strategic plans from matrix teams and commercial interests; provides updates on execution, owns and shares project decisions, and liaises with the product team to generate innovative ideas and buy-in to strategies.
  • Accountable for end-to-end delivery of the HEOR book of work under their remit, from strategy development to content pull-through.
  • Accountable for ensuring strong partnership with all relevant HEOR COE functions to ensure a comprehensive HEOR voice is represented in cross-functional meetings.
  • Executive presence and ability to engage with senior leaders in a cross-functional setting.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in health economics or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree with at least seven years of experience, or PhD with at least five years (fellowship experience counted); professional training in a health field (MD, PharmD, etc.) is a plus.
  • Preferred: PhD in Economics, Econometrics, or (pharmaco)epidemiology, or related field with 3 years of relevant experience; clinical research experience strongly recommended; pharmaceutical industry experience preferred; experience leading complex products and/or clinical development for pipeline development and global launch.
  • Proven leadership skills in a cross-functional global team environment and ability to interact externally and internally to support global business strategy.
  • Ability to navigate uncharted territory with few established guidelines, and to direct compliance knowledgeably and expeditiously in the face of complex rules and regulations.
  • Ability to develop creative and effective solutions to inter- and intra-project priority conflicts, resource constraints, and other problems affecting multiple programs.
  • High goal-orientation with the ability to see solutions rather than problems during drug development or on-market support.
  • Extensive knowledge of the global regulatory, HTA and PR&A landscape, and understanding of other development-related functions as they relate to drug development.
  • Skills to lead a cross-functional team and manage scientific personnel in HEOR; ability to interact successfully with senior management globally and act as HEOR project/group champion and spokesperson; self-starter with a strong drive to see projects achieve commercial success.

Education

  • Advanced degree in health economics or related discipline.
  • Preferred: PhD in Economics, Econometrics, or pharmacoepidemiology.
