Role Summary

The Director, Head of Technology provides technology direction and project execution for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Commercial franchises and supporting functions, leading omnichannel engagement, launch readiness, and digital initiatives. The role partners with Product Groups, platform teams, development teams, and marketing agencies to deliver scalable solutions that enable data-driven decisions in a regulated healthcare environment. This position sits at the intersection of product and business leadership, shaping product vision and strategic technology roadmaps. Location: Horsham, PA; travel up to 15%, primarily in NJ/PA with occasional domestic travel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior commercial leaders, shaping technology and AI roadmaps aligned with business priorities, growth objectives, and enterprise strategy.
  • Identify and champion opportunities where AI, advanced analytics, automation, and digital platforms can enhance customer engagement, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead proactive demand shaping and investment prioritization, ensuring technology and AI initiatives deliver clear business outcomes and return on investment.
  • Partner with business teams on planning, needs analysis, and business risk assessment, leading complex business process design and re-engineering initiatives enabled by digital and AI capabilities.
  • Act as the primary liaison between commercial stakeholders and Technology Product Lines (e.g., Digital, CRM, Data & Analytics, AI Platforms), ensuring clarity of priorities, feasibility, and execution plans.
  • Translate business strategies into AI-informed solution architectures, balancing innovation with scalability, explainability, data integrity, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide executive oversight for a portfolio of medium to large-scale initiatives across Digital, Web, CRM, Reporting & Analytics, and AI-enabled use cases, from concept through delivery and operations.
  • Ensure disciplined execution using Agile, Product, and SDLC methodologies, while evolving delivery models to incorporate experimentation, pilots, and iterative AI development where appropriate.
  • Partner in financial management of the commercial technology portfolio, including budgeting, investment cases, vendor management, and cost optimization.
  • Anticipate and actively manage delivery risks related to data quality, model performance, adoption, security, and regulatory compliance, escalating issues with clarity and speed.
  • Guide the responsible adoption of AI and advanced analytics, including use cases such as customer segmentation, personalization, forecasting, insight generation, and operational automation.
  • Partner with Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to ensure AI solutions are built on trusted data, governed models, and reusable enterprise capabilities.
  • Establish effective collaboration models across internal teams and external vendors, agencies, and technology partners delivering digital, analytics, and AI solutions.
  • Promote standard methodologies, reusable patterns, and shared learning across the broader Technology organization to accelerate value delivery.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to technology leaders and teams, fostering a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all technology and AI solutions comply with enterprise security, privacy, data protection, and regulatory requirements, including the ethical and compliant use of AI.
  • Act as a role model for strong governance, transparent decision-making, and responsible innovation in a complex, evolving commercial environment.

Qualifications

  • Required: Significant progressive experience in business technology leadership roles, with a strong track record supporting commercial, customer-facing, or revenue-generating organizations.
  • Required: Demonstrated success leading complex technology portfolios across Digital, Web, CRM, and/or Data & Analytics from strategy through execution and operations.
  • Required: Practical experience incorporating AI and advanced analytics into business solutions, including partnering with data science teams and translating AI capabilities into business value.
  • Required: Strong ability to influence senior business leaders, align cross-functional teams, and operate effectively in ambiguous, high-visibility environments.
  • Required: Experience managing budgets, vendors, and delivery partners while maintaining accountability for outcomes and value realization.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AI governance concepts, including model transparency, data lineage, validation, and risk management.
  • Preferred: Formal training or certification in Agile, Product Management, Program Management (PMP), or related methodologies.
  • Preferred: Strong understanding of customer engagement platforms, data privacy, PII protection, and information security principles.
  • Preferred: Experience using data visualization and storytelling tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms to communicate insights and AI-driven outcomes to executive audiences.
  • Preferred: Exposure to AI-enabled use cases such as personalization, forecasting, decision support, or intelligent automation.

Education

  • 10 years of job-related experience OR 12 years of job-related experience and skills to satisfactorily perform the position responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Data Science, Business, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred.
