Overview
- Lead and enhance the global trade compliance program and set global trade policy/strategy to support growth, resilience, and innovation.
- Represent the company with regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with import, export, customs, and sanctions requirements.
Responsibilities
- Own global trade compliance framework (import/export policies, standards, procedures) aligned with U.S. CBP, OFAC, DEA, FDA and applicable international agencies.
- Maintain governance model: risk assessment, monitoring, and executive reporting.
- Ensure controls for classification, valuation, licensing, and documentation across R&D/clinical/commercial.
- Proactively engage regulators; influence policy and clarify expectations.
- Partner cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Tax, Finance, Legal/Policy) to embed compliance into network design, sourcing, and launches.
- Implement tariff mitigation/duty optimization (First Sale for Export, duty drawback, FTZs).
- Monitor geopolitical/regulatory developments; brief senior leadership with impact/risk/recommendations.
- Establish compliance KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
- Support LSP onboarding/qualification and ensure adherence to trade policies (export controls, sanctions, restricted party screening, customs valuation/classification, country of origin).
- Lead global harmonization, tooling enablement (e.g., SAP/global trade systems), and benchmarking.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree (Masterβs or law degree desirable).
- 10+ years international trade compliance; 5+ years leading global operations in regulated industry (pharma/biotech/life sciences preferred).
- Deep U.S. import/export expertise (CBP, EAR, OFAC, FDA, DEA) and global trade frameworks (EU/UK/APAC).
- Customs valuation expertise (including IP/intercompany transactions; licenses/royalties); plus Tax/Legal/accounting collaboration (preferred).
- Proven regulator engagement; ability to brief/influence executives.
- LCB certification desirable; exceptional leadership and stakeholder management.
Compensation/Benefits (as listed)
- U.S. pay range: $192,400.00β$260,400.00; eligible for annual short-term incentive and annual long-term incentive.
