Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute global trade compliance strategy; establish policies, procedures, and governance for import/export compliance.
- Maintain oversight of export controls, sanctions, and customs regulations; partner with Legal on regulatory interpretation.
- Oversee compliant import/export execution (classification, valuation, country of origin, licensing); ensure HTS classification and customs declarations.
- Lead trade compliance risk assessments, internal control frameworks, internal audits, and support regulatory audits; partner with Legal on investigations/escalations.
- Serve as primary interface with customs authorities/regulatory agencies; manage export licenses/permits/certifications; monitor regulatory changes.
- Identify trade optimization opportunities (FTAs, duty drawback, inward processing); align with Tax/Finance on transfer pricing, customs valuation, duty forecasting, accruals, and cost planning.
- Standardize processes and optimize trade systems (e.g., SAP GTS or equivalent); enhance automation and reporting.
- Partner cross-functionally and advise senior leadership on trade risks, costs, and opportunities.
Requirements
- BA + 12+ years OR MA/MS + 10+ years OR PhD + 8+ years in global trade compliance (pharmaceutical/biotech/regulated industries).
- Deep expertise in import/export regulations, customs compliance, and trade risk management.
- Strong understanding of supply chain and financial flows; experience partnering with Legal, Tax, and Finance; experience building/scaling global compliance programs.
Preferred
- Advanced degree (Masterβs).
Compensation/Benefits
- Salary range: $210,375.00β$272,250.00; may include discretionary bonus, stock incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
