Role Summary

Director Global Technical Accounting Transaction Support. Location: Morristown, NJ or Cambridge, MA. Responsible for identifying, researching, analyzing, and documenting accounting topics to ensure compliance with the Sanofi Global Guide of Accounting (SAGA) and IFRS; works with senior management, executives, business development, and external auditors; collaborates across Corporate Consolidations & Statutory reporting and services all Global GBUs within the Finance organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice in areas such as revenue recognition from out-licensing, mergers & acquisitions, divestments, alliances, collaboration agreements, R&D in-licensing arrangements and lease agreements among other operational topics and strategic projects.
  • Review accounting treatments with respect to financial instruments proposed by Corporate Treasury
  • Review contemplated business transactions and agreements and assess Group accounting consequences (based on facts and circumstances)
  • Collaborate with other groups within Consolidations and Statutory Reporting regarding reporting and disclosure consequences on various accounting topics
  • Collaborate with groups outside Consolidations and Statutory reporting regarding accounting consequences, specifically Account to Report, Tax, External Auditors, etc.
  • Write and communicate formal accounting position papers and memos for internal use and for external auditors
  • Interact with Internal Control related to formalization of accounting treatments and perform SOX requirements as necessary
  • Assess preliminary impacts of new accounting and reporting pronouncements on existing and new contractual arrangements and initiatives
  • Provide input for the Group accounting manual based on prior experience with complex transactions
  • Participate in global accounts committees to provide technical accounting expertise on projects and initiatives
  • Contribute to the Finance hard closing process to ensure one-off complex transactions are documented and concluded for a smooth year-end process; support initiatives to ensure completeness and timely documentation

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelorβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree in Accounting
  • Job Related Experience: 7 β€šΓ„Γ¬ 10 years
  • CPA Certification
  • Management/supervision experience in a public accounting firm
  • Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS
  • Pharmaceutical industry knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills
  • Detail-oriented
