Role Summary

Director Global Technical Accounting Transaction Support. Location: Morristown, NJ or Cambridge, MA. The role is responsible for identifying, researching, analyzing and documenting various accounting topics to ensure compliance with the Sanofi Global Guide of Accounting (SAGA) and IFRS, with broad interactions across senior management and auditors. Serves all Global GBUs and is part of the Finance organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice in areas such as revenue recognition from out-licensing, mergers & acquisitions, divestments, alliances, collaboration agreements, R&D in-licensing arrangements and lease agreements among other operational topics and strategic projects.
  • Review accounting treatments with respect to financial instruments proposed by Corporate Treasury
  • Review contemplated business transactions and agreements and assess Group accounting consequences
  • Collaborate with Consolidations and Statutory Reporting regarding reporting and disclosure consequences on various topics
  • Collaborate with groups outside Consolidations and Statutory reporting (Account to Report, Tax, External Auditors, etc.)
  • Write and communicate formal accounting position papers and memos for internal and external auditors
  • Interact with Internal Control and perform SOX requirements as deemed necessary
  • Assess preliminary impacts of new accounting and reporting pronouncements on contractual arrangements and operational initiatives
  • Provide input and examples for the Group accounting manual
  • Participate in global accounts committees to provide technical accounting expertise
  • Contribute to the Finance organization's hard closing process to document and conclude one-off complex transactions for a smooth year-end
  • Support initiatives to ensure completeness and timely documentation of one-off complex transactions globally, aligned with stakeholders and external auditors

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelorβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree in Accounting
  • Job Related Experience: 7β€šΓ„Γ¬10 years

Skills

  • CPA Certification
  • Management/supervision experience in a public accounting firm
  • Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS
  • Pharmaceutical industry knowledge a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills
  • Detail-oriented
