Main Responsibilities
- Provide technical accounting advice for revenue recognition (out-licensing), mergers & acquisitions, divestments, alliances, collaboration agreements, R&D in-licensing arrangements, and lease agreements.
- Review accounting treatments for financial instruments proposed by Corporate Treasury.
- Review contemplated transactions and agreements and assess Group accounting consequences (based on facts and circumstances).
- Coordinate with Consolidations & Statutory Reporting on reporting/disclosure impacts of technical advice.
- Coordinate with Account to Report, Tax, and External Auditors on accounting consequences.
- Draft and communicate formal accounting position papers and memos for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Work with Internal Control to formalize accounting treatments and perform SOX requirements as needed.
- Assess preliminary impacts of new accounting/reporting pronouncements on existing and new contractual arrangements and operational initiatives.
- Provide input/examples to the Group accounting manual.
- Participate in global accounts committees to provide technical accounting expertise.
- Support the Finance hard close process by ensuring one-off complex transactions are documented and concluded for smooth year-end.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree from an accredited four-year college or university (Accounting specialization).
- 7β10 years of job-related experience.
- CPA certification.
- Management/supervision experience in a public accounting firm.
- Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS required.
- Pharmaceutical industry knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication; strong organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and team-building; detail-oriented.
