Role Summary
Director Global Technical Accounting Transaction Support leads the identification, research, analysis, and documentation of accounting topics across operational projects, business initiatives, and contractual agreements to ensure compliance with the Sanofi Global Guide of Accounting (SAGA) and IFRS. The role has significant interaction with senior management, including Executive Committee members, and collaborates across Consolidations & Statutory Reporting to ensure proper recording and disclosure. The position services all Global GBUs and is part of the Finance organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice on revenue recognition from out-licensing, mergers & acquisitions, divestments, alliances, collaboration agreements, R&D in-licensing arrangements, and lease agreements among other topics.
- Review accounting treatments for financial instruments proposed by Corporate Treasury.
- Assess group accounting consequences of contemplated business transactions and agreements.
- Collaborate with Consolidations and Statutory Reporting on reporting and disclosure consequences of accounting topics.
- Collaborate with groups outside Consolidations and Statutory Reporting (Account to Report, Tax, External Auditors, etc.) on accounting consequences.
- Write and communicate formal accounting position papers and memos for internal use and external auditors.
- Interact with Internal Control to formalize accounting treatments and perform SOX requirements as needed.
- Assess impacts of new accounting and reporting pronouncements on existing and new arrangements and initiatives.
- Contribute to the Group accounting manual with examples from prior complex transactions.
- Participate in global accounts committees to provide technical accounting expertise on projects and initiatives.
- Support the hard closing process by ensuring documentation and timely conclusion of one-off complex transactions to ensure a smooth year-end.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree from an accredited four-year college or university (Accounting).
- Job Related Experience: 7 โ 10 Years.
- CPA Certification.
- Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS required.
- Management/supervision experience in a public accounting firm.
- Pharmaceutical industry knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
