Role Summary

Director, Global Publications Lead, Dermatology: The Director, Global Publications Lead, Dermatology, is a key strategic partner responsible for driving the strategic planning and tactical execution of the comprehensive publication plan in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders. Leads and collaborates across internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute global publication strategies, incorporating innovative approaches and AI-enabled tools to enhance data dissemination and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the Scientific Publications Team meetings and annual workshops to drive the development of the strategic global publication plan for assigned programs, collaborating across diverse stakeholders
  • Provide high-level strategic thinking for innovative publication strategies at the Global level, integrating AI-enabled tools and digital platforms to enhance planning, dissemination, and engagement
  • Communicate regular updates to key stakeholders to facilitate ongoing functional and regional planning and inform dependencies
  • Collaborate with external authors and journals for planning, integration, and execution of publication activities
  • Foster cooperation, diversity of opinion, psychological safety, and open communication in establishing and executing annual program strategies, objectives, tactics, and priorities
  • Bring deep subject matter expertise on innovative and compliant publication strategies, tactics, and policies
  • Ensure publication activities adhere to Takeda’s standards, SOPs, and industry guidelines; educate on these policies as necessary
  • Ensure high scientific quality, alignment with medical strategy, and compliance with legal requirements
  • Manage 3rd-party vendors to deliver quality publications on time and within budget
  • Utilize AI and digital technologies to optimize publication workflows, including literature review, plain language summaries, and data visualization
  • Create, review, and oversee publication budgets and act as financial steward in publication deliverables and vendor use
  • Ensure vendors are trained to comply with Takeda’s standards and manage them to execute the tactical plan effectively

Qualifications

  • A higher education degree (M.D., Pharm.D., Ph.D.), or master’s degree in biomedical discipline or equivalent with experience in publication management
  • 8-10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, at least half in Medical Affairs
  • 5-8+ years in medical publications/communications within biopharmaceuticals, preferably in a matrix structure, in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development
  • CMPP certification preferred
  • Prior experience in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, especially psoriasis or dermatology, preferred
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and/or digital technologies in scientific communications and publication planning
  • Understanding of drug development, trial design and execution, statistics, and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of publication planning processes and standards (GPP, ICMJE, COPE, CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA)
  • Experience with publication management software/systems
  • Ability to foster diverse opinions and open communication; strong coordination across a global matrix
  • Proactive, enterprise thinker with multicultural outlook and ability to work across diverse geographies
  • Experience in vendor and budget management
