Role Summary
AbbVie’s Corporate Communications team seeks a director to lead communications for AbbVie’s Supply Chain and Quality organizations and assist with executive and strategic communications support to the EVP, Chief Operations Officer. The successful candidate will develop, implement and execute strategic internal and executive communications across the Supply Chain and Quality Assurance functions and support the broader Global Operations Communications team. This role will also support executive communications for the EVP, Chief Operations Officer, and develop communications strategies aligned to functional and enterprise priorities.
Responsibilities
- Lead internal, external and executive communications for Quality and Supply Chain functions and their respective vice presidents and senior leadership teams.
- Support the Director of Global Operations Communications with executive communications for the EVP, Chief Operations Officer, including the development and execution of events, presentations, town halls, correspondence and thought leadership.
- Develop communications strategies to support the Operations organization that align with target business goals and overall AbbVie objectives.
- Lead communications strategy for enterprise vendor, supply chain and logistics issues
- Serve as communications liaison between Operations and Corporate Affairs teams on supply chain and product issues, counterfeiting, drug shortages and supplier events.
- Support Supply Chain and Quality change management communications, including function-level transformations and organizational evolutions.
- Support development and execution of communications strategies to support the AbbVie enterprise and Operations organization aligned with enterprise priorities.
- Interface and align with various functions, including Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance, Global Security and Senior Management.
- Support project management across the Operations Communications team that elevates team alignment, ensures process efficiencies and enables seamless execution
- Manage agencies and associated program budgets that support communications programming
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, journalism or equivalent
- 15+ years of experience in corporate communications with expertise in developing and executing strategic communications programs that are data and insight-driven.
- Strong executive presence and proven track record of working directly with senior executives on communication approaches and personal styles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and judgment with an ability to interact effectively and professionally while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
- Strong communication planning, execution and project management skills and exceptional interpersonal skills to quickly build rapport and credibility with senior executives and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Business acumen to appropriately frame the why and contextualize communications priorities that strategically align with business priorities
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and navigate a highly matrixed organization using influence/negotiation and relationship management skills
- Scientific acumen to understand complex concepts and translate for target audiences and channels
- Experience working and communicating in a manufacturing, logistics or engineering setting, with biopharmaceutical experience a plus.
