Role Summary
The Director, Global Operations and Portfolio Communications will lead the development and execution of communications supporting the Global Quality Organization and Global Supply Organization. This role will help champion a culture of quality at operations sites and deliver communications that inspire and reinforce the critical role these functions play in Viatris’ success. It will also collaborate with the Global R&D and Global Commercial organizations to elevate visibility of the company’s portfolio and ensure consistent, compelling narratives that reinforce Viatris’ science, innovation, and patient impact, while driving engagement internally and externally. Reports to the Head of Global Commercial, R&D and Operations Communications.
Responsibilities
- Drive Strategic Operations and Portfolio Communications: Develop and execute communication strategies that promote a culture of quality, safety, compliance, and customer service across global operations; articulate the value of Viatris’ portfolio across generics, established brands, and innovative brands.
- Develop Executive & Leader Communications: Support executive and senior leaders across Operations, Quality, R&D and Commercial with communications strategies to drive engagement, visibility and connection with colleagues; equip leaders with tools and messaging to foster alignment and understanding of Viatris’ strategy.
- Enhance Employee Engagement & Communication Effectiveness: Coordinate across Operations, R&D and Commercial networks to drive employee engagement and promote knowledge and best practice sharing.
- Lead Change & Organizational Communications: Provide strategic counsel and develop communications to support announcements, restructuring, transformation initiatives, divestitures and integrations impacting Operations, Quality, Commercial and R&D.
- Prepare for and Manage Issues: Proactively prepare for known issues, mitigate impact, refine issues management, and provide crisis communications support in coordination with operations leaders and Global Communications/Corporate Brand.
- Support External Communications and Visibility: Assist with media backgrounders, monitor industry news, advise on internal/external impact, and support reputation-building and investor relations communications.
- Measure Impact & Drive Continuous Improvement: Use metrics to assess communications effectiveness and apply insights to improve efforts.
- Collaborate & Align Globally: Partner with Global Communications, Corporate Brand, Corporate Affairs, Quality, Operations, Commercial and R&D; ensure brand consistency and support the evolving corporate narrative; travel as needed.
- Champion Culture & Corporate Values: Promote Viatris’ values, ethics, quality, and compliance in all communications; inspire proactive and creative communication thinking.
Qualifications
- Required: 8-10+ years of communications experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Required: Ability to translate complex scientific and commercial concepts into clear, compelling narratives.
- Required: Proven ability to lead communications around sensitive matters.
- Required: Strong collaborator and relationship builder, able to influence across all levels and functions.
- Required: Skilled at identifying operational efficiencies and applying communications best practices.
- Required: Strong stakeholder management with internal cross-functional and external stakeholders.
- Required: Ability to operate in a fast-paced and complex environment.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communication or related discipline.
