Role Summary
The Director, Global Medical Training Strategy will be responsible for developing the strategic training plan and material creation for assigned therapeutic areas/products, ensuring training needs are met across Global Medical Affairs and integrated with strategic/launch plans. This is a highly strategic role requiring collaboration across regions and with various medical and compliance teams.
Responsibilities
- Strategy Development – Create annual and quarterly training plans aligned with Brand Planning for assigned disease states/products. Represent GMT at MAT meetings. Ensure alignment with Medical Strategy & Communications, HEOR, and Field Medical on tools and training sessions. Develop key messages for new data and pivot statements for competitor data.
- Medical Training Materials & Onboarding – Develop onboarding plans and materials in collaboration with Medical Strategy, Scientific Communications, HEOR, and Regional GMT leads. Create materials aligned to training plans that support adult learning; incorporate user feedback.
- Training Sessions – Lead GMA-wide training sessions on key data and competitors; ensure learning objectives and narrative alignment; manage Pre/Post Congress Training sessions.
- Metrics – Track and report training effectiveness, completion rates, and impact metrics.
- Cross-functional Alignment – Collaborate with Global Medical Training, Regional teams, Field Medical Leadership, Medical Directors, Scientific Communications, Field Medical Excellence, Clinical Development, and Commercial Effectiveness; ensure materials comply with legal/compliance requirements.
- Innovation – Identify and drive innovative approaches to training and adult learning; stay ahead of industry trends and new learning technologies.
- Customer-Focused – Spend time in the field to understand MSL/MOL needs and translate into training opportunities.
- Support other Global Medical Training roles as needed.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP-C).
- 8+ years of Medical Affairs experience, including at least 5 years in training.
- Direct Field Medical experience beneficial (3 years).
- Deep expertise in adult learning methodologies and training development.
- Subject matter expert in training with ability to develop deep understanding of assigned therapeutic areas/products.
- Global mindset with continuous process improvement mentality.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to connect multiple components.
- Leadership presence and ability to engage across the organization.
- Ability to influence decision-making and build effective internal relationships.
- Creative problem-solving and willingness to explore unique solutions.
- Proven track record in a global environment across international markets.
- Understanding of regional healthcare systems and compliance environments.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills; ability to translate complex scientific information into engaging training content.
- Flexible to changing priorities and business needs.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
