Role Summary
The Director, Global Health Economics & Outcomes Research (GHEOR) will lead the GHEOR strategy supporting Global Medical Affairs (GMA) and business objectives to optimize patient access, pricing, and reimbursement for Madrigal Pharmaceuticalโs medicines, with a focus on Rezdiffra in the US and international markets. This position primarily drives evidence generation and market access initiatives while collaborating with US, European and other international GHEOR counterparts to ensure alignment of global strategies. The Director will oversee the development and execution of integrated evidence plans, including design, analysis, and dissemination of HEOR studies and technical deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Strategy Development
- Lead the evidence generation strategy for Rezdiffra with HQ-based stakeholders in partnership with the cross-functional matrix team
- Integrate input from US and international teams into a comprehensive evidence strategy to support market access, reimbursement, and lifecycle management
- Evidence Generation and HEOR Studies
- Design and execute HEOR studies including network meta-analyses and real-world studies, from concept through publication
- Develop launch and HTA deliverables such as value dossiers, systematic literature reviews, economic models, and innovative tools to support payer engagement, reimbursement, and access
- Clinical and Regulatory Support
- Provide strategic input into clinical trial design to support payer and regulatory decisions
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate dissemination of HEOR materials per regulatory guidance and internal SOPs
- External Collaboration and Partnerships
- Develop strategic partnerships and research collaborations with key external experts, healthcare policymakers, payers, and academic and community oncology settings to support asset strategies
- Budget Oversight and Resource Management
- Support the GHEOR budget planning, forecasting, and allocation to ensure efficient use of resources across US and international initiatives
- Manage external vendor contracts and timelines to ensure project deliverables are completed on time within scope and within budget
- Team Leadership & Development
- Foster continuous development through mentoring and training
- Align Publications activities with strategic objectives and tactical plans
- Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all activities comply with company SOPs, industry standards, and applicable regulations
- Uphold the highest ethical standards in all external engagements
- Travel Requirement
- Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily in the US, with occasional international travel for conferences or collaboration with all GHEOR teams
- Ability to work across international time zones as needed
Qualifications
- Required: Graduate degree in health economics, epidemiology, health services research, or a related field
- Required: 12-15+ years of HEOR or related experience with 7+ years with PhD
- Required: Direct experience with US health technology assessment (HTA) and value assessment bodies (e.g., ICER) and familiarity with select international HTA agencies (e.g., NICE, CADTH)
- Required: Deep expertise in health services research methods, including economic modeling, patient-reported outcomes (PROs), statistics, and real-world evidence studies
- Required: Proven ability to independently design, execute, and manage complex non-interventional studies in the US and internationally
- Required: Strong understanding of the US drug development process and payer landscape
- Required: Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders across cross-functional and matrixed teams
- Required: Execution-focused and highly organized, with strong project management skills in budgeting, contracting, vendor oversight, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines
- Required: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience preparing technical and value-based materials for diverse audiences
- Required: Demonstrated ability to assess and prioritize projects based on business value, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and adapting to change
- Required: High proficiency with project management systems, Medical Affairs dashboards, CRM platforms, and enterprise collaboration tools (e.g., Veeva, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, Zoom)
- Preferred: In-depth knowledge of liver disease; experience in cardiometabolic health or Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis
- Preferred: PhD degree in health economics, epidemiology, health services research, or a related field
