Role Summary
Director, Global Health Economics Lead, Oncology Business Unit. Role within Takeda Oncology, reporting to the Head of Global Health Economics and US HEOR. Location: Boston, MA. The role leads value demonstration and evidence generation strategies for Takeda’s global oncology portfolio, partnering across R&D, Market Access, and LOC to accelerate patient access and optimize payer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Drive and realize value demonstration strategies for Takeda’s global oncology portfolio, achieving rapid, broad patient access and delivering differentiated, evidence-based pricing through HTA and payer decision outcomes; lead cross-functional integration to accelerate market access and strengthen competitive advantage.
- Lead strategic development, execution, and optimization of global health economics plans, reimbursement strategy, and evidence communication; build tools and training to maximize adoption across regions.
- Mobilize and align cross-functional and cross-regional stakeholders (R&D, Market Access, LOC) to ensure seamless integration of evidence requirements and accelerate value realization for patients and payers.
- Co-lead the development of enterprise-level frameworks (e.g., Integrated Evidence Generation Plans) ensuring evidence and access strategies align with payer, HTA, and policy needs globally.
- Pioneer digital, data science, and AI-driven HEOR approaches, shaping Takeda’s market access strategy; influence enterprise-level decision-making and mentor emerging leaders.
- Advance Takeda’s global reputation by shaping thought leadership at international forums and consortia; build partnerships with HTA bodies, payers, academics, and clinicians to strengthen Takeda’s leadership in HE and value demonstration.
- Global Value Proposition: deliver differentiated global HE value propositions to drive optimal payer decisions and patient access; collaborate with Global Pricing, Value & Access to craft compelling value narratives.
- Identify high-value opportunities across the portfolio, including new indications, lifecycle extensions, and innovative contracting models.
- Evidence Generation: lead enterprise-wide vision for evidence generation to secure HTA, payer, and market access objectives; integrate payer and real-world data needs across programs; explore digital and AI approaches to evidence generation.
- Incorporate innovative endpoints and ensure HTA readiness (including JCA); translate complex analyses into actionable value stories for executives, payers, and policymakers.
- HE and Value & Access Tools: benchmark scientific rigor in HEOR studies; drive adoption of Value Platforms, Dossiers, and VBC toolkits; lead global rollouts and training; explore VBC options with Market Access and Pricing.
- Market Access: serve as enterprise expert and spokesperson for Takeda’s value proposition; monitor HTA/reimbursement trends to guide enterprise-level HE and access strategies.
- Communication/Publication: elevate Takeda’s visibility through HEOR communications and policy publications; translate analyses into compelling value narratives for key audiences.
- Foster Superior Collaboration: empower cross-functional and external networks; manage collaborations with HE thought leaders, vendors, and academic partners to maintain innovation and excellence in health economics.
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate with 7+ years of experience, or Master’s with 9+ years, or Bachelor’s with 12+ years in healthcare with direct experience in global product value proposition development and interaction with payers/HTA bodies; strong patient-centered focus.
- Required: Robust understanding of the global payer environment and ex-US HTA landscapes (NICE, CADTH, PBAC, EU JCA) plus US Medicare (Part D), ICER trends; knowledge of reimbursement methodologies in Emerging Markets.
- Required: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in health economics, HTA tools and methods, economic modelling, SLRs, ITCs, and statistical analyses; understanding of clinical/epidemiological information and outcomes research.
- Required: Leadership in a highly matrixed organization; strong analytical and communication skills; strategic thinking and problem-solving ability; influencing skills; ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences.
- Required: 5–10% domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Preferred: Experience in Hematology and/or Oncology; deep knowledge of global HTA requirements (EU JCA) and HTA submissions; direct payer experience or Market Access experience; track record of peer-reviewed publications.
