Role Summary
AbbVie is seeking a strategic, deal-oriented, intellectually-curious healthcare analytics professional to lead forecasting in support of Business Development efforts. This role collaborates closely with the Pipeline Commercialization & Strategy Forecasting team to implement modeling and analytics enhancements and to ensure alignment between BD and Pipeline forecasts. The successful candidate will have extensive healthcare analytics/finance experience and will act as a strategic partner in the BD commercial assessment process, shaping how opportunities align with therapeutic area strategy.
Responsibilities
- Commercial Assessment Forecasting: Lead the team that develops net sales forecasts and commercial P&Ls to support external BD opportunities across AbbVie’s therapeutic areas. Maintain market knowledge and develop BD forecasts.
- Maintain market knowledge: Track key commercial and scientific trends; partner with commercial leadership to envision future market shapes and external partnerships; stay current with industry and therapeutic area trends.
- Direct the team to design, build, and operate forecast models; develop competitive intelligence and primary/secondary research plans; create therapeutic area overviews, market assessments, and forecasts; provide fact-based analyses to support go/no-go decisions; forecast sales/profits under multiple scenarios; identify uncertainties and quantify risks; align on P&L assumptions; support broader commercial assessment and senior leadership presentations.
- BD/PCS Analytics Partnership Forecasting data & analytics strategy: Maintain and implement the data strategy for the PCS & BD Forecasting teams; evaluate tools and data sources, license data as needed, and serve as an internal data/analytics consultant.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; MBA or advanced degree preferred; 10+ years of healthcare commercial analytics/finance experience in pharmaceuticals with broad data-source and technique expertise; 5+ years at a managerial level; strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience: Proficiency in business development, mergers & acquisitions, market sizing, forecasting, and corporate valuations across multiple therapeutic areas; solid grasp of financial modeling (P&L) and pharmaceutical market dynamics; cross-functional collaboration; excellent written and oral communication; knowledge of clinical development, regulatory issues, and market dynamics; strong primary and secondary market research capabilities; ability to analyze data from multiple sources; proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; creative, autonomous, and collaborative problem-solver with a track record of delivering complex analyses.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
