Role Summary
The Director of G&A Finance is a strategic and highly visible finance leader responsible for managing the financial performance and planning for the General and Administrative functions of the company. You will be the key finance business partner for the CHRO, CLO, and Ethics & Compliance, providing financial oversight and strategic insights to support sound decision-making and operational excellence in these areas.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Partnership: Act as the primary financial business partner for the CHRO, CLO, and Ethics & Compliance leadership, and other G&A functions. Provide strategic decision support and financial modeling to help functional leaders manage their budgets effectively.
- Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): Lead all aspects of the annual budget, long-range planning, and recurring forecasting processes for the CHRO, CLO, and Ethics & Compliance functions.
- Develop detailed financial models and analyses to support planning and strategic initiatives, including headcount management, compensation planning, legal spend, and compliance program investments.
- Provide timely and accurate budget-to-actual variance analysis and actionable insights to drive informed decision-making.
- Financial Reporting and Controls: Support month-end and quarter-end close processes by partnering with Accounting to ensure accurate reporting, including expense tracking and accruals for the supported functions.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies related to procurement, vendor management, and expenses for G&A functions.
- Operational Excellence: Provide financial oversight for investments and costs related to HR programs, legal matters, and compliance initiatives; collaborate to identify opportunities for cost optimization and process efficiency while balancing risk and strategic goals.
- Leadership and Team Management: Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement; develop and implement standardized finance processes to promote efficiency and strong financial discipline across the organization.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required. An MBA and/or professional certification (CPA/CFA) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries. Prior experience as a finance business partner to HR, Legal, or Compliance functions is a plus.
- Skills: Exceptional financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with a focus on accuracy; proven ability to influence decisions across departments and build strong partnerships; deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting; expert-level Excel and financial planning software proficiency (e.g., Adaptive Insights); outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
