Role Summary

Director, Field Medical Strategy & Operations, Neuroscience. Based in Princeton, NJ. Leads field medical strategy and execution across Neuroscience therapeutic areas, partnering with the Neuroscience senior leadership team to align FM priorities and support an efficient field medical model. Responsible for communicating and implementing standards and processes, delivering projects, and driving continuous improvement while serving as a liaison to the broader Neuroscience Commercial and Medical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages a detailed project plan to support the mobilization and execution of Field Med's long-term and annual strategic and tactical plans.
  • Designs launch planning strategies and the generation of an integrated evidence plan for therapeutic areas.
  • Designs and implements integrated medical program strategy and tactics, including monitoring related medical budgets, reporting metrics for field activity and working with vendors for meetings.
  • Oversees the development of global publications plans for assigned products and ensures optimal execution of plan.
  • Directs cross-functional project teams to create medical affairs project plans (e.g. launch plans, external engagement plans, medical data generation plans, etc.).
  • Leads project teams that support medical science liaison strategies and tactics, provides coaching and mentoring, and manages performance.
  • Oversight of strategy and operational support provided within each Neuroscience TA to ensure consistency.
  • Supports FM Leads in strategy and execution of within- and cross-TA initiatives/activities, including: - Supporting LT meetings - Development and distribution of organization-wide communications - Development and presentation of organizational scorecards to key stakeholders - Innovating and collaborating with Medical Analytics - Coordinating congress attendance and summary distribution - Leading within-TA team organizational meetings in conjunction with Director, Portfolio Strategy & Execution - Supporting FM market research projects with Market Research vendors and BI&T
  • Oversight of FM Strategy support (Associate Director, FM Strategy & Operations and contractors).
  • Liaises with capability functions supporting FM.
  • TA Lead for coordination of IT support and communications, working closely with Medical IT, Medical Engagement Operations, BI&T, CE3, and FM IT Points.
  • FM liaison for commercial meeting planning (e.g., POA).
  • Oversight of needs, strategy, and execution with respect to FM systems and platforms.

Qualifications

  • Required: A minimum of 5-10+ years of clinical and/or pharmaceutical experience with demonstrated leadership and management of people.
  • Preferred: Relevant scientific and/or business background and expertise; field medical strategy & operations experience strongly preferred.
  • Preferred: Understanding of field medical role and the roles of supporting functions (e.g., Medical Engagement Operations, BI&T, Home Office Medical).
  • Preferred: Proficiency with common FM systems and platforms (e.g., Veeva InterAct, MedSights, Tableau).
  • Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; strong project management skills.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work across the matrix and lead large workstreams and projects.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in a strategy & operations function, including defining strategic priorities and directions, setting short- and long-term objectives, and leading operations.
  • Preferred: Highly organized with excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, understanding of pharmaceutical customers, competitors, medical and marketing functions.
  • Preferred: Ability to evolve in a complex environment.
  • Preferred: Demonstrate core BMS values; integrity and honesty.
