Role Summary

Director, External Scientific Engagement and Congress Leadership overseeing external engagement strategy, congress planning, sponsorship management, and cross-functional collaboration within US Medical Affairs Oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute a forward-thinking external engagement strategy with healthcare professionals and external organizations, aligned with scientific priorities and patient outcomes.
  • Identify, create, and maintain medical and scientific relationships with prioritized external organizations and HCPs.
  • Design, implement, and refine External Engagement frameworks.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with scientific and medical priorities.
  • Collaborate with Public Affairs, Commercial, Clinical Development to ensure consistent and compliant messaging.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Ethics & Compliance and other stakeholders to ensure activities comply with policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Global Medical Excellence and Digital, Data & Informatics to drive innovation and continuous improvement in External Engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of US congresses and events, aligning with the vision to advance science and patient care.
  • Develop the US congress planning roadmap and a shared calendar for key events for each congress.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for US team engagement through events, conferences, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with medical affairs, marketing, and communications to ensure cohesive messaging and branding for events.
  • Support the execution of pre-, during, and post-congress medical activities and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee a sponsorship strategy for US-oncology congresses and events, ensuring alignment with mission to innovate and improve patient care.
  • Manage sponsorship budgets, contracts, and timelines with Legal, Compliance, and Finance.
  • Ensure sponsorship activities comply with internal policies and external guidelines.
  • Evaluate impact and ROI of sponsorships to inform future planning.

Responsibilities

  • Chair internal Congress Planning Committee and External Engagement Working Group to define strategy and plans.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Regulatory to ensure activities meet standards.
  • Support development of metrics and KPIs to measure impact of congress and engagement activities.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and provide data-driven insights to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire, mentor, and empower a high-performing, matrixed team for tactical execution with clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Foster collaboration, remove barriers to efficiency, and drive accountability across stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience, with at least 5 years in medical affairs.
  • Proven success in leading external engagement strategies and congress planning at national/global levels.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks governing scientific exchange.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
