Role Summary

Director, Executive Compensation. Reports to the Executive Director, Global Total Rewards. Leads the design and administration of Elanco’s executive compensation and equity programs, supporting executive pay decisions, proxy disclosures, and Compensation Committee materials to ensure programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with business strategy. This is a strategic, cross-functional role partnering with HR, Finance, Legal and external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the company’s executive compensation and equity plans and programs, including deferred compensation
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and HR partners on executive compensation matters
  • Act as the point of contact for senior leaders to provide information and consultation on total rewards packages
  • Develop and implement executive compensation programs based on the company’s philosophy, culture, strategy, and market practices
  • Design and recommend short- and long-term incentive programs, including equity plans and performance-based awards
  • Prepare materials for the Compensation & Human Capital Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Prepare the CD&A, tables, and other content for the annual proxy, coordinating with legal, finance and other partners
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and external advisors on governance and disclosures
  • Manage vendor relationships related to executive compensation and equity
  • Conduct executive market pricing activities including job matching, data analytics, pricing, and survey submissions
  • Provide modeling and scenario analysis to support pay structure and equity allocation decisions
  • Assist in due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align total rewards with broader HR and business strategies

 

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, human resources, or related field
  • Required: Minimum 8 years of experience in progressive compensation or related area with 3 years in executive compensation in a public company
  • Required: Mastery of executive compensation and governance, including STI/LTI/equity programs, SEC/proxy/regulatory knowledge, materials for Compensation Committee/Board, and experience with M&A compensation integration
  • Required: Data-driven program leadership with strong analytical skills, stakeholder communication, advanced Excel/PowerPoint, and proficiency with HR systems (e.g., Workday)
  • Required: Experience preparing materials for Compensation Committees and collaborating with senior executives and external providers
  • Required: Understanding of financial statements and metrics; strong project/change management skills; ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines; excellent interpersonal communication
  • Required: Ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders at all levels, including the Board of Directors

 

Skills
