Role Summary

The Director, EHSS Management System leads the strategic design, deployment, and continuous improvement of BMS's global EHSS management system, ensuring alignment with internationally recognized standards and enterprise objectives. This role drives consistency, compliance, and performance by leading the development of a global EHSS risk framework, global documentation oversight, directing training development and delivery, and leading execution of management system operating mechanisms. The Director serves as a subject matter expert and strategic partner, supporting both global and site-level teams in implementing effective EHSS practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and sustainment of the EHSS management system across global and site-level operations, ensuring alignment with relevant ISO standards and internal requirements.
  • Own lifecycle management of global EHSS standards and procedures, including oversight of global documentation within the enterprise document management system.
  • Lead and oversee execution of core management system elements such as compliance evaluations, risk management, continuous improvement and best practice sharing.
  • Oversee development and delivery of EHSS training programs, collaborating with SMEs, centralized BMS training teams, and external providers; manage LMS integration and content strategy.
  • Prepare and coordinate annual EHSS management reviews, including data analysis, performance evaluation, and executive-level reporting.
  • Partner with EHSS digital systems teams to support deployment and sustainment of digital tools, including AI-enablement, for compliance and risk management.
  • Maintain and manage regulatory subscriptions and ensure integration of relevant standards into EHSS practices.
  • Be senior subject matter expert and leader on management systems, providing leadership expertise to site teams to ensure understanding and effective implementation of management system requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of EHSS experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or other high-hazard industries.
  • Proven expertise in EHSS management systems, including ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Experience in global document governance and digital document management systems (e.g., Veeva).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global training development and deployment across global teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and change management skills.
  • Preferred Professional certifications (CIH, CSP); ISO 14001/45001 Lead Auditor credential.
