Director, Distribution and Logistics

Role: Senior leader overseeing end-to-end vaccine distribution operations across the U.S., responsible for logistics strategy, vendor management, regulatory compliance, and financial stewardship. Core responsibilities include managing third-party logistics providers, ensuring reliable, compliant, and cost-effective product delivery, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining distribution quality standards. The role involves strategic planning for capacity, overseeing contracts and performance, managing a logistics budget of $15-25M, and collaborating cross-functionally with Commercial, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and IT. High-value specifics include expertise in cold chain distribution, GDP compliance, pharmaceutical logistics regulations, and experience with biologics or vaccines, particularly within regulated environments. The role requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), 10+ years in pharma or regulated industry, including 5+ years in vendor and contract management, with leadership experience managing remote teams. Familiarity with logistics technology, SAP systems, and industry best practices like Six Sigma or Lean is preferred. The position is hybrid, with occasional travel as needed.
