Director of Delivery Operations, Engineering Delivery Group
Responsibilities:
- Drive technology transformation by standardizing delivery processes across multiple delivery platforms using agile methodologies and modern delivery tools.
- Set and track performance metrics to measure delivery success, quality, and team productivity.
- Lead and manage diverse talent, including in-house technical teams, contract workers, and external software development partners.
- Create and implement a unified vision for technology delivery; ensure best practices in project management, resource allocation, and agile execution.
- Provide vision and direction for the software delivery function supporting AbbVie’s R&D therapeutics discovery and development (main application development capability and managed application support).
- Lead strategy & influence with domain senior leadership; adapt and execute domain strategic plans.
- Drive process improvement opportunities (process and/or technology).
- Make key decisions aligned to established strategies and priorities; influence operating policies and interpret enterprise-wide policies impacting teams/workflow.
- Recruit, coach, and develop managers and senior managers; recruit and develop organizational talent.
- Direct and control functional activities and budgets.
- Provide usage optimization and process framework leadership for application development methodologies (UI frameworks, cloud usage, Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).
- Make quick, flexible decisions that influence business/technology direction.
- Determine delivery resource management strategy and organizational structure.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with business and technology senior leaders and diverse internal/external collaborators.
- Demonstrate leadership attributes and manage performance; provide feedback, recognize achievement, develop talent, and support succession pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years experience OR Master’s degree and 9 years experience OR PhD and 5 years experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to drive employee performance and engagement through coaching and motivation.
- Experience managing teams of at least 10 people with a mix of managers, employees, matrixed/virtual teams, contractors, and managed service providers.
- Ability to communicate problems to leadership and end users at all levels.
- Subject matter expert in technology and/or business domain.
- Experience managing a budget of at least $10 million.
- Preferred: Experience in technology operations, strategy, planning, and implementation and/or relevant business domain.
