Director, Data & Technology

Role: Lead the development and execution of company-wide data, IT, software, and ML/AI strategies at Terrana Biosciences, a biotech focused on sustainable agricultural innovations. Responsibilities: oversee data governance, cloud data architecture, and infrastructure; manage IT services including cybersecurity; lead deployment of software and ML/AI models into reliable production workflows; direct internal software development and workflow automation; coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams including software engineers and computational biologists; serve as senior leader engaging with executive stakeholders. Requirements: Bachelor's in computer science, data engineering, or related field; 10+ years in data engineering, digital platforms, or ML/AI; proven success in strategic leadership, managing technical teams, and deploying production software; strong cloud experience, preferably AWS; knowledge of enterprise IT operations, cybersecurity, and scientific workflows. Preferred: experience with LIMS (e.g., Benchling), generative AI, and workflow automation tools. High-Value: biotech with focus on agricultural biotech, data and ML/AI enablement, cloud infrastructure, and scientific R&D support. Location: Durham, NC (preferred) or Cambridge, MA; onsite with potential travel.
