Role Summary

Director, Data Science 1 of 2. Location: East Hanover, NJ (on-site). This is 1 of 2 roles.

The Insights and Decision Science (IDS) team enables improved decision making by leveraging data to identify actionable insights that drive performance. The Director leads the development and deployment of advanced AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency and drive strategic growth, collaborating with the US commercial team and the India-based data science team to explore cutting-edge AI technologies, including generative AI and large language models (LLMs).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and deployment of scalable AI solutions across various business units.
  • Engage in hands-on work when necessary to support the team and data science initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven solutions across platforms and services.
  • Drive innovation by staying current with advancements in AI, particularly generative models and LLM technologies.
  • Champion exploration and integration of cutting-edge AI technologies, especially in generative AI.
  • Act as a liaison between the US commercial team and the India-based data science team.
  • Stay informed about state-of-the-art foundation models and other trends to inform strategies.
  • Promote a can-do culture and inspire teamwork and culture change.
  • Model and promote best practices in AI adoption and experimentation.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science, with 6-8 years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Build and deploy scalable machine learning models using AWS and Azure
  • Strong understanding of deep learning, foundational/LLM models, statistics, and recommendation systems
  • Deep knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, BERT, Cohere, and real-world applications
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on capacity when necessary
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
  • Experience with digital channel selection for β€šΓ„ΓΊnext best actionβ€šΓ„ΓΉ
  • Excellent problem-solving and creative solutions to complex problems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across time zones
