Role Summary

Director, Customer Insights (Patient) - Ophthalmology is responsible for overseeing all patient-related Customer Insights activities for Regeneronβ€šΓ„Γ΄s ophthalmology business. Partners with Ophthalmology Commercial Business Unit stakeholders to inform business decisions for understanding and developing programs designed for patients, and supports development of DTC assets and market research plans and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research plans and individual projects that inform business decisions for U.S. patient-focused initiatives for the Ophthalmology CBU; this includes surveys, focus groups, interviews, and ethnographic studies
  • Develop innovative Customer Insights plans that align with strategic imperatives for the Ophthalmology CBU, translating insights gaps into key business questions and informing the optimal research approach
  • Proactively recommend studies that inform critical brand decision-points and address brand opportunities and challenges
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders across the Ophthalmology CBU and CSI&A; balance project rigor, timelines and influence
  • Manage patient-focused market research suppliers to design, scope, execute and analyze research results and develop business implications
  • Collaborate with the Ophthalmology CBU and CSI&A to influence patient-focused data capabilities and stay informed on market landscape and competitive outlook
  • Work with Advanced Analytics partners to measure brand performance via secondary data sources and address questions from senior leadership
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to elevate the patient journey in decision-making and embed patient perspectives in go-to-market plans
  • Collaborate with Market Access and Marketing to analyze CRM data to understand patient behavior and preferences; ensure CRM tools align with patient-centric goals

  • Demonstrate proficiency and drive continuous improvement in patient primary research designs and analysis; develop customized solutions for complex strategic issues
  • Oversee design and execution of all patient-focused primary research, including DTC campaign testing
  • Ensure primary market research complies with internal policies and uses agreed-upon vendors
  • Recommend evidence-driven business-building ideas using patient and market insights
  • Support development and refinement of CRM strategies to enhance patient engagement and retention
  • Establish and share outcomes from plans that measure performance against critical success factors; analyze DTC campaign metrics to optimize outreach
  • Synthesize insights from multiple sources to inform strategic choices and present findings to business teams and senior management
  • Consolidate data into actionable insights identifying opportunities, unmet needs, barriers to treatment, and engagement opportunities
  • Create compelling presentations communicating insights clearly and actionably

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required
  • 12+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience (or 10+ years for MBA/MS) with increasing accountability; prior experience with patient-focused primary market research and biologic medicines; ophthalmology experience preferred
  • 12+ years (or 10+ years for MBA/MS) in pharmaceutical/biotech Commercial roles with increasing responsibilities
  • Proven success in using market research to inform and influence business decisions
  • Experience in survey design, data analysis (including secondary data), managing suppliers, presenting results, and recommending actions
  • Experience in cross-functional communication and consensus building
  • Strong technical understanding of marketing research methodologies and tools
  • Deep knowledge of data sources/nomenclatures in product development
  • Knowledge of legal/regulatory environment related to pharmaceutical/biotechnology commercialization
  • Flexibility, leadership, influence, and emotional intelligence across stakeholders
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently under tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking
  • Concise and impactful written and verbal communication
  • Experience influencing and driving decision making
  • Expertise in data visualization and data storytelling of market research findings
