Role Summary

Director, Customer Insights (Patient) - Ophthalmology. Oversees all patient-related Customer Insights activities for Regeneron’s ophthalmology business, partnering with Ophthalmology Commercial Business Unit stakeholders to inform patient-focused programs and develop/manage DTC market research plans and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research plans and projects informing U.S. patient-focused initiatives for the Ophthalmology Commercial Business Unit, including surveys, focus groups, interviews, and ethnographic studies
  • Develop innovative Customer Insights plans aligned with strategic imperatives; translate insights gaps into key business questions and inform optimal research approaches
  • Proactively recommend studies that inform critical brand decisions and address opportunities and challenges
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders across the Ophthalmology CBU and CSI&A; balance rigor, timelines, and influence
  • Manage patient-focused market research suppliers to design, scope, execute, and analyze research results and derive business implications
  • Collaborate with Ophthalmology CBU and CSI&A colleagues to influence patient-focused data capabilities and monitor market landscape
  • Work with Advanced Analytics to measure brand performance via secondary data; respond to senior leadership questions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to elevate the patient journey in decision-making and embed patient perspectives in go-to-market plans
  • Collaborate with Market Access and Marketing to analyze CRM data for patient behavior and preferences; ensure CRM tools align with patient-centric goals
  • Oversee design and execution of all patient-focused primary research, including DTC campaign testing (creative concepts, messaging, channels)
  • Ensure primary market research complies with internal policies and uses preferred vendors
  • Recommend evidence-driven business-building ideas and encourage use of patient/market insights in strategic decisions
  • Support development/refinement of CRM strategies to enhance patient engagement and retention
  • Establish and share outcomes from plans measuring performance against success factors; analyze DTC campaign metrics to optimize outreach
  • Synthesize insights from diverse sources to inform strategic choices; develop and present findings to teams and senior management
  • Integrate data into actionable insights identifying opportunities, unmet needs, barriers, and engagement opportunities
  • Create compelling presentations communicating complex insights clearly for action

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required
  • 12+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience (10+ years with MBA/MS); prior patient-focused primary market research, biologic medicines, and market-leading brands required; ophthalmology experience preferred
  • 12+ years (10+ with MBA/MS) of relevant pharma/biotech commercial experience in roles with increasing responsibilities
  • Proven success using market research to influence business decisions
  • Experience in survey design, data analysis (including secondary data), managing suppliers, presenting results, and recommending actions
  • Cross-functional communication and consensus-building experience
  • Strong knowledge of marketing research methodologies and tools
  • Understanding of data sources and nomenclature in product development
  • Knowledge of legal/regulatory environment related to pharmaceutical/biotech commercialization
  • Demonstrated leadership, flexibility, influence, and emotional intelligence across stakeholders
  • Extensive experience managing multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Concise, impactful written and verbal communication
  • Experience influencing and driving decision making
  • Expertise in data visualization and storytelling of market research findings
