Job Description
- Identify and lead evaluation of external preclinical and clinical-stage opportunities aligned with Gilead’s R&D Inflammation strategies.
- Drive deep scientific cross-functional diligence of select external opportunities; oversee and guide presentation of diligence findings to Senior leadership.
- Support other Therapeutic Areas as needed (Virology, Oncology, Cell Therapy, Technologies and Platforms).
- Partner with Corporate Development colleagues on transaction/contracting and collaborate on term sheet, contract negotiations, and research plans.
- Proactively identify, engage, and evaluate external opportunities.
- Work with Competitive Intelligence to understand therapeutic area landscapes, clinical inflection points, and define competitive landscapes.
- Present opportunity summaries/recommendations at triage meetings; lead scientific diligence teams and summarize key findings/risks/next steps; support governance approval and financial/contract negotiations.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 12 years’ experience OR
- Master’s degree and 10 years’ experience OR
- PhD and 8 years’ experience
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- 12+ years (BS) or 10+ years (MS) or 5–8+ years (PhD/PharmD/DVM/MD or similar) scientific experience in biotech/pharma.
- Experience in Corporate Development or Search and Evaluation (optimal, not required).
- Significant expertise and experience in Inflammation.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams; strong written/oral communication skills; ability to summarize and present complex scientific information.
- Demonstrated inclusive collaboration; manage/prioritize parallel activities.
