Role Summary
The Director of Congress Excellence will develop, implement, and lead the annual congress strategy and planning process for Medical Affairs across key global congresses ensuring a cohesive approach. This role will drive end to end coordination of congress activities across Medical Affairs functions (Medical Strategy, SciComms/Publications, Medical Training, HEOR, Field Medical, Medical Information, and Medical Excellence) and Regions ensuring the team delivers on all required elements. The Director of Congress Excellence will maintain a high level of cross-functional coordination and collaboration across the organization, including Commercial Congress Planning, to ensure alignment and One Insmed approach.
Responsibilities
- Congress Strategy – Co-create the medical congress strategy and objectives for global congresses with Medical Affairs functions and Regions aligned with cross-functional teams including Commercial Congress Planning for assigned products/congresses.
- Operational Excellence: Develop and implement a library of congress-related templates to drive operational excellence (e.g., congress flow diagrams, playbook, pre-con decks, planning meetings, internal communication templates, rules of engagement, etc). Coordinate planning and execution of tactics with Medical Affairs teams. Track congress timelines and ensure the team delivers on required elements of the planning process. Drive logistical planning for internal medical congress events such as daily debriefs. Develop RACI to ensure partnership and coordination across Medical teams.
- Medical Affairs Congress Booth: Partner with SciComms, Medical Strategy, Medical Information, Field Medical, and cross-functional partners on the strategy and development of Medical Affairs Booths. Bring expertise in booth engagement and innovative builds. Partner across the organization on innovative approaches, industry trends, and process improvements related to medical affairs booths.
- Budget: Partner with SciComms,Medical Strategy, Regions, and Finance to plan and manage annual budget for congress activities.
- Impact: Develop congress metrics to demonstrate strategic and objective impact and communicate to the organization. Drive lessons learned across congresses and implement best practices.
- Cross-Functional Alignment and Partnership: Ensure a comprehensive and synergistic approach by collaborating across Medical Affairs, Regions, and other functions including Commercial and Development. Drive a One Insmed and Franchise approach to Congress planning.
- Innovation: Partner with stakeholders to identify and integrate innovative ideas and best practices into congress strategies, plans, and activities.
- Process Improvements: Bring process improvement mindset to congress excellence. Identify and drive improvements in strategy, planning, and execution. Build new processes where needed or enhance current processes.
- Communication: Drive internal communications related to planning as well as final outputs post congress.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable Insmed policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or equivalent 4-Year University degree required, other advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) advantage
- Prior experience in Congress Planning and Execution with project management required (7-10 years)
- Prior launch experience
- Strong knowledge of Medical Affairs processes and understanding of key activities required
- Global experience or experience in multiple regions an advantage
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and functions
