Director, Commercial Distribution Operations

Role: Director of Commercial Distribution Operations overseeing Ionis' product distribution and Order to Cash processes. Objectives: ensure efficient, compliant delivery of innovative RNA-based therapies globally; develop and execute distribution strategies; support ERP platform integration. Responsibilities: manage domestic 3PL partnerships, lead distribution operations, design and implement ERP system enhancements (SAP S4/Hana), ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee data analytics for supply chain metrics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Quality, Regulatory, and Finance to optimize distribution and supply continuity. Lead a technical team responsible for product accessibility within channels, manage vendor relations, and oversee state licensing requirements. Requirements: bachelor’s degree in health sciences or business, with 15+ years in pharma/biotech supply chain or distribution roles, including product launch experience; strong understanding of US pharmaceutical distribution, regulatory standards, and ERP systems. Preferred: MBA or advanced degrees, experience with rare/ultra-orphan drugs, and specialty product launches. High-Value: focus on rare disease/ultra-orphan products, US or global markets, GxP compliance, and SAP S4/Hana platform expertise. Work setup: onsite/hybrid in Carlsbad, CA or Boston, MA, or remote with travel.
